See South African church known as Gabola Church of International Ministries. Is currently going viral because of their unorthodox method of service, where alcohol is used instead of water.
According to multiple reports, the members of the South African church are baptized with their favorite alcoholic drink instead of water. That’s not all, the congregants at the Gabola Church have also been given the go-ahead to drink alcohol during church services.
The church was founded by 52-year-old Bishop Tsietsi Makiti and they hold their service at Freddy’s Tavern in Orange Farm, south of Joburg.
Their devotion starts at 11 am and lasts until 3 pm – but they don’t mind going on even longer. Bishop Tsietsi defends his ideologies using a passage of the bible where Jesus turned water into wine
According to the bishop, people didn’t know what to do for fun, but when Jesus changed water into wine he prayed for it to stimulate their bodies.
Due to the beer baptism, Bishop Makiti’s church has witnessed its membership rocket to over 500 members in just under two months.
He says he was motivated by the scriptures narrating how Jesus changed water to wine.
People who drink and get baptized by beer are happy and peaceful. This means they are living in the shadow of God.
The church accommodates people who are not welcome at other churches.
Its name ‘Gabola’ is the Tswana word for drinking. There is only one branch at the moment but the Bishop is looking forward to expanding it further.
